Miami-Dade Police have identified Danny Torres, a 27-year veteran of the force, as one of the officers involved in a controversial traffic stop involving Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The incident, which took place this past Sunday, is under investigation, and Torres has been placed on administrative leave.
Body cam footage reportedly shows Hill being forcibly removed from his vehicle, pinned to the ground, and handcuffed during the stop. Torres's attorney issued a statement, emphasizing that his client would not comment on the matter until the investigation is complete and all facts are fully revealed. As the investigation unfolds, the officer’s actions remain under scrutiny, raising questions about the use of force during the encounter.
On Wednesday, Hill addressed the incident in a press conference, admitting he regrets some of his actions, including refusing to roll down his window when requested by police. The star athlete called for Torres to be fired as a result of the incident. Meanwhile, Hill and the Dolphins are set to face off against the Buffalo Bills tonight.
