Catherine Called Birdie is a delightful coming-of-age film set in medieval England, directed by Lena Dunham. Based on the bestselling novel by Karen Cushman, it follows the spirited 14-year-old Catherine, nicknamed "Birdie," who is determined to avoid the traditional roles expected of her as a noblewoman. With wit and resilience, Birdie navigates the pressures of an arranged marriage, family expectations, and societal norms, all while discovering her own identity. The film is a charming blend of humor and heartfelt moments, showcasing Birdie`s journey of self-discovery and her quest for independence in a world that tries to limit her.
