Key West International Airport (EYW) has reported a significant increase in passenger traffic for 2024. As of November, the airport accommodated 1,306,043 travelers, marking a substantial rise from the previous year.
In November alone, EYW experienced an increase of approximately 12,924 passengers compared to the same month in 2023, equating to about 430 additional travelers per day. To manage this growth and enhance passenger experience, EYW is undertaking a major expansion project. The centerpiece is the construction of Concourse A, a 48,802-square-foot facility designed to include seven gates, modern amenities, and improved operational capabilities. The concourse is expected to open in early 2025, with full project completion slated for summer 2026.
The new concourse will feature a range of concessions, including a Chili’s restaurant, Farm 2 Air Market, and a First Call Beach Bar, aiming to provide travelers with diverse dining and shopping options.
Additionally, the expansion includes enhancements to baggage handling areas, airline ramp spaces, and an expanded security checkpoint with four lanes to improve efficiency and accommodate the increasing passenger volume.
As the Florida Keys enter their peak travel season, EYW anticipates continued growth in passenger numbers. Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure to ensure a smooth experience, especially during busy periods.
