A Heartfelt Journey: Discovering Haiti Through Art
Haiti is a land of vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and resilient people, which is the inspiration behind my artistic endeavor, The Spirit of Haiti Series. Through this collection of paintings, I explore not only the beauty of Haiti but also the profound life lessons I discovered during my visits. Now, I am thrilled to share with you my first painting in this series, Praying Boy, through a three-part series of videos.
Praying Boy captures a piece of Haiti’s soul, reflecting its colors, its energy, and the strength of its people. This project has been a personal exploration of the joy that lies beyond material possessions and the importance of appreciating life’s simplest blessings. In the first installment, I begin an expressionistic oil painting of a boy in prayer. This initial stage focuses on laying out the composition, setting the groundwork for what will become a vivid and heartfelt piece. The process reflects Haiti’s essence—raw, unfiltered, and full of potential.

In the second video, I delve into the underpainting and block in the basic values. This stage is all about creating depth and dimension, establishing the foundation for the vibrant details to come. The final episode brings the painting to life with dynamic details and playful splashes of color. This phase is where the essence of Haiti shines brightest—lively, spirited, and unforgettable.
